WIZARD OF OZ
SPONSORSHIP - We would like to offer you the opportunity to sponsor our school show The Wizard of Oz which is taking place from 25th-28th March 2009. Money received from sponsorship will help us to costume the show which with well over 400 children is a mammoth task. For a minimum donation of £20 we will display your name/company name/business name on a sponsors board in the Civic Hall foyer during performances. We will also have a sponsors page on our website. If you know of anyone or are yourself prepared to sponsor us then please see your child’s dance teacher. All donations (including smaller ones) will be very gratefully received. As usual we will be donating any profit from the show to local charities.
CHAPERONES - we will need chaperones to help backstage with the children. We are sorry but we can only have people who are CRB checked. If you are willing to help please let your child’s teacher know and please let them have your CRB number. We can then draw up a rota.
STAGE CREW – We will also probably need help backstage with back cloths etc. (This could be heavy work!) If you are interested then please see Miss Gill
MAKE-UP – We will be using make-up for most of the dances so if you have any problems with this please let your dance teacher know in writing.
REHEARSALS & SHOW SCHEDULES
If your child is Nursery to Grade 2 level they will be dancing in 2 shows, one week day and one Saturday show. Grade 3s and above dance all 6 shows. (The children involved in the opening number and snowflakes have been informed separately of their groupings). If you have trouble deciphering the table overleaf then please see your child’s dance teacher! The show will be filmed for all 3 performances on the Saturday. If your child is unable to dance in their scheduled performance please let their teacher know as it may make a difference to the staging of the dance.
We would like to hold some rehearsals in half-term week on Wednesday 18th February as this provides an ideal opportunity for different groups to practise together. We appreciate that this is a holiday but it would really benefit the children to dance together so please do your best to attend. The teaching staff are donating their time for this rehearsal and would appreciate a donation of £1 per child to put to the costume fund.
